Brownlee a modern twist on traditional country
She describes herself as Taylor Swift mixed with Keith Urban and Miley Cyrus and she is set to take the Australian country music industry by storm.
Her name, Stephanie Brownlee, is worth remembering, according to the man who managed Fleedtwood mac. Dennis Dunstan discovered the 17-year-old Tamworth local when she was only 15.
When I put a CD of her songs on in my car, I had to stop the car, I had shivers up my spine he said. I couldn't believe that she was only 15. I knew I needed to meet this young girl.
He worked on developing Brownlee as an artist for a few years before signing her.
I had to see that she really wanted this and that she didn't lose her great voice as she got older, but she has just kept getting better he said.
She now has an album in the mixing stage with one of the biggest independent record companies Compass Brothers Records.
"Keep It Real" is a young, fresh fun album it is all about relationships, love and hate a lot of people can relate to it Brownlee says. I think there is a movement that is happening with all the youth, Taylor Swift has opened a lot of doors for people are more on the modern side
Both Brownlee and Dunstan believe there is a demand for more young modern country artists and the crowd response to Brownlee back this up.
Everyone I play her to is absolutely blown away Dunstan said. She loves country but she also really loves the influences of all the modern pop and R & B music kids enjoy today. I think she has got her own twist on it. I think she is all of the great things that modern country music has to offer
Dunstan just hopes that Brownlee has as much success as the other Stephanie in his life, Stevie Nicks. |
